SUP or stand-up paddle boarding can look intimidating but also like so much fun! When you come out for this day in the sun, you’ll kick intimidation to the curb by joining up with other water-loving peeps working on their balance with land-based yoga before you hit the boards. That way you are feeling more grounded, stronger and more confident before you gear up to go paddling atop the water.
Your day starts at a beautiful Geode Dome nestled in the surrounding forest. Unwind, stretch, clear your mind and release the stress of the week during our 60-minute yin yoga class with a view of the trees all around you. Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that allows you to slow down, relax and turn inward. This can help lower your stress levels and boost your mood and energy! Yin yoga also improves flexibility, increases circulation and reduces tension. Everything you need to feel like a pro in no time on the paddle board! Each movement from pose to pose will also be aimed at synching your movement to your breathing, all of this giving you a strong base to build on once we hit the water.
SUP on Ross Lake
Carry the calmness your practice created with you as you leave the Dome and head over to Ross Lake. You’ll drive your own car, and in less than ten minutes, you’ll be ready to get geared up and head out on the water. Whether this is your first time on the water, or you are a seasoned pro, this is the perfect adventure for you. Once fitted with your gear you will be given some pointers (more than some, if you need it) out on the water. Learn how to stay upright while you paddle and control your board. Then, use the strength and balance you found on your mat just moments ago to float and meander atop the shimmering water. And if you fall off, who cares? The water is warm, the sun is shining, and getting wet is half the fun! You will be laughing and chatting with your fellow SUP'ers, as you gain confidence on your board and soak up the day. Now get out there and explore this 127 acre lake with over three miles of shoreline.
