Get crafty with our drop-in holiday sessions, where each workshop explores a different chapter of the Shippam’s story through hands-on making:
• Wednesday 23 July – Shippam’s Shopping Bag
Did you know Shippam’s once had its own shops selling pastes and sausages? Pop into The Novium to design and decorate your very own Shippam’s-inspired shopping bag to take home.
• Wednesday 6 August – Shippam’s Sandwich Hanging Mobile
What would you put on your perfect sandwich? Shippam’s was once known as the “Ace of Pastes” – now it’s your turn to create a colourful hanging mobile filled with your dream ingredients.
• Wednesday 20 August – Shippam’s Advertising Poster
Take inspiration from Shippam’s famous bold and quirky adverts to create your own vintage-style poster. From flying paste pots to talking sardines, we’ll help you get creative with our archive materials.
• Wednesday 29 October – Make Your Own Jarvis the Jar
Meet Jarvis – our very own Shippam’s-inspired character created especially for the Hurrah for Shippam’s exhibition! Using colourful plasticine, children can design and personalise their very own mini Jarvis, taking inspiration from the iconic Shippam’s jar. Will yours have googly eyes? A bow tie? A big smile? This playful drop-in activity is perfect for younger visitors and helps bring the Shippam’s story to life through creativity and imagination.
