Students on our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance degree programme have the opportunity to workshop and be a part of the development process for new musicals, working directly with the writers and creating original roles. The initiative is led by Course Leader Andrew Wright, working with the support of partner companies Mercury Musical Development and Musical Theatre Network. The rehearsal process takes place on Bishop Otter Campus with the culmination of the week being a live performance of the workshopped material on Saturday 1st November at 7:30pm in The Showroom.
FRANKIE & STEIN: THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL HORROR COMEDY
When seven cheerleaders are crushed in a freak accident beneath a giant concrete taco at the local drive-thru, one lonely outcast takes matters (and body parts) into her own hands. Stein has never been great at making friends the traditional way... The result? Frankie. A stitched-together beauty who struts straight to the top of the high school food chain.
Part Rocky Horror, part Heathers, and 100% camp, Frankie & Stein is a darkly funny, wildly theatrical new musical that skewers small-town Americana, teenage obsession with popularity, and the monster we all create in the name of “fitting in.” Expect killer pep rallies, power ballads with bite, and a finale that will leave you both horrified and cheering.
