During April and May, the Gerber/Hart Library and Archive have graciously opened their space to display artwork from from queer survivors who have used art to heal at Awakenings! Artwork from queer survivors will be on display throughout the rest of May, and is open for viewing for free during Gerber/Hart Library & Archive business hours!
To celebrate the closing of this exhibit, Gerber/Hart and Awakenings will be holding a Queer Crafting closing event for this exhibit at the library on May 23rd, and all are welcome who would like to join and make some art!
Come with a project in mind, or use any of our prompts that we will have to provide!
Founded in 1981, Gerber/Hart Library and Archives seeks to collect, preserve, and make accessible the history and culture of LGBTQ+ communities in Chicago and the Midwest in order to advance the larger goal of achieving justice and equality.
We are extremely grateful and excited for this amazing collaboration!
