Notre Ecole de Musique Choral Concert With Charles Smith Making Music Accompanying Debut

I will be performing in this concert as accompanist, in the Fine Arts Building's Curtiss Hall on the 10th Floor, along with Andrew Schultze, conductor and choir director, and with great help by Ayse Celasun, who runs this brand new Chicago music school called "Notre Ecole de Musique", which means "Our School of Music", which focuses mainly on French literature in classical music repertory, as well as French music teaching techniques such as the Dalcroze method.

We had done rehearsals starting in early May at this modernized music school just near Lincoln Square and already had our photo-op today at the school. But the big day is coming! Not just for me!

Pieces that will be performed will include---

A short version of the famous "Frere Jacques", one of the French songs for Children.

A Congelese Folk Song with Call and Response

"Cantique de Jean Racine" (or "Song of Jean Racine"), for Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass format with piano accompaniment, composed by Gabriel Faure

Excepts from Henry Purcell's old-time tragic opera, "Dido and Aeneas" (including the famous, "My Hand, Belinda" recitative and "When I am Laid" sung by the character Dido just before she dies, the Sailors' aria, and the "Ho Ho Chorus")
