About the event

Comfort Film Presents: Codec Collapse, curated by Sky Goodman
Comfort Film Presents

Codec Collapse, curated by Sky Goodman, is a night of real-time audiovisual disintegration, where post-glitch aesthetics meet raw machine play. In an age defined by generative AI and seamless automation, this event digs into the cracks — celebrating the unpredictable beauty of obsolete hardware, circuit-bent consoles, and digital noise. Featuring 2 live sets from visualist DRUGS™ who jams on glitched-out PlayStation 2s, alongside performances by Chicago based, RXM Reality and Mukqs, Codec Collapse is a messy yet euphoric refusal of polished systems. It’s a reassertion of human touch through broken signals, lost packets, and machines that still want to speak.

Mukqs

Hausu Mountain co-founder Max Allison records under the name Mukqs. He twists elements of noise, techno, video game music, and free-for-all sample collage into rapidly shifting productions united under the banner of his strictly live, hardware-focused practice. Mukqs music has appeared on labels including Orange Milk, Umor Rex, Jacktone, and No Rent.

RXM Reality

Chicago-based producer/composer Mike Meegan makes music under the monikers RXM Reality and When 2. Over the course of five albums on Hausu Mountain since 2018, along with 2021’s Advent LP on Orange Milk, Meegan refined a strain of electronic production that unites facets of breakcore, techno, grime, noise, and countless other styles into detailed composites that attest to his omnivorous tastes and bottomless technical acumen as a producer.

DRUGS™

DRUGS™ combines the worlds of video gaming with video art. By designing and modifying their own glitch consoles, DRUGS™ crafts a unique interactive experience at every show, inviting the crowd to help shape the visuals by playing nostalgic games and turning knobs to create colorful, psychedelic glitch worlds. Based out of Asheville, NC, DRUGS™ survived Hurricane Helene but their batch of new Circuit Bent PS2 consoles was buried in a landslide. With valiant determination, the crew came back together to rebuild all their lost consoles and hand deliver them to their respective video artists on their 2025 PSTour. Throwing shows along the way to share their art with curious show goers, gamers, and art/music lovers alike.
