Showcasing the best in Country and Americana songwriting talent from across the UK and beyond, the Radio City Sessions are limited-audience events which take you behind the scenes of the songwriting process. Discover the stories behind the songs, get insights into the songwriting craft, and then hear the songs in the most ‘country’ way possible – a guitar and a vocal.
The songwriters' round is a staple of the Nashville music scene, and the Radio City Sessions capture the intimacy of those events, enabling you, the listener, to discover the stories behind the songs. Each artist performs their own music as well as a cover song that has a particular meaning for them.
This limited-audience event will once again bring the magic of country music to life, set in the quirky surroundings of Chelmsford's best live music venue, Hot Box.
JONNY MORGAN
Jonny Morgan, the 2024 UK AMA ‘Bob Harris – Emerging Artist of the Year,’ blends ambient Americana soundscapes with heartfelt storytelling to make him one of the UK’s most exciting emerging talents. His unique transatlantic sound has earned him critical acclaim and a growing fanbase.
After touring across North America in 2022, Morgan returned to London in early 2023. He then released his highly anticipated debut album ‘Good Luck With the Music’. The album received support from BBC INTRODUCING, Mahogany Sessions, and Absolute Country. Furthermore, this release cemented his reputation as a rising star in the indie-folk and Americana genres.
His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed by industry veterans. Legendary BBC Radio 2 presenter Whispering Bob Harris once said: “Every now and again comes a musician who has an indefinable something that makes them special. Call it the X factor or star quality. Whatever it is, Jonny has got it.”
Morgan’s sound is distinctively his own. He creates ambient and emotive soundscapes that connect deeply with listeners. His music draws inspiration from acclaimed artists like The War On Drugs, Alabama Shakes, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Michael Kiwanuka.
Morgan’s live performances have taken him to some impressive venues. He made his Glastonbury debut in 2019. Since then, he has performed at iconic venues, including Union Chapel, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Black Deer, and O2 Academies.

FLORENCE SOMMERVILLE
21-year-old Florence Sommerville, is a singer-songwriter from Orsett who thrives on modern country music. She’s performed to packed audiences at venues in Nashville, including the iconic Bluebird Café, Commodore Grille, Maxwell House, and was chosen by No Depression magazine as one of the top performers at the 2024 AMA Festival.
In the UK she’s played the Maverick Festival, Latitude the Green Note, Libra Camden, and the Fiddler’s Elbow in London and supported such diverse acts as Diana Jones, Tom Robinson, Annie Keating, Track Dogs, Hannah Aldridge, the Hanging Stars, Dan Owen and many more.
Since the beginning of 2025 she has gigged regularly, performing all across the South-east, both solo and with her acclaimed band, including selling out the Brentwood Theatre twice. Prior to the release of her debut album, ENDLESS HORIZON in July, she has released three digital singles, (I’ll Be Your) Best Broken Heart, California and Broken Pieces.
All three are included on the 12-track album, that perfectly captures the diversity and richness of Florence’s incredible songwriting. The CD release includes four bonus acoustic tracks, making for an incredible 16-track collection. Criss-crossing country genres the way she journeys through life, with wild abandonment, passion and intensity, the youthful independent singer-songwriter has created a uniquely sophisticated and signature manifesto, a bold indication that Florence Sommerville has at the outset of her career found her perfect stride.
There’s a raw rootsy quality to Florence’s music. An assured performer, she takes total command of any stage from the outset and allows her crystalline vocals to shine on her well-crafted original songs.
