Janie Price aka “BIRD” is an award winning half English/Irish singer/songwriter. She started her classical music training on cello aged 6 and learnt drums from age 11. She’s written and collaborated with many household names including Andy Dunlop (Travis), Ally McErlaine (Texas), John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan) and had numerous hits including no 1s in Belgium with Hooverphonic.
Her first short film “Wider Than The Sky” which she wrote the script and composed the music for has just finished showing at film festivals globally. It won 9 awards including the prestigious Performance/Aviva Short Film Best Drama Award. Her soundtrack album from this project garnered significant support from radio including BBC Radio 2, BBC 5Live, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.
She has just finished two new EPs, the first of which was released to critical acclaim in June 2025 with single releases also receiving praise from notable peers including Johnny Marr himself for her cover of The Smith’s classic “How Soon Is Now” and Roy Orbison Junior for her song “Roy” about his father.
This Autumn she will start releasing singles from the second EP “Strange as Folk” and will release her second short film, a documentary about Roy Orbison, “You Found A Friend in Elvis” which will also be her directorial debut.
