Do you know Eddie Gordo? Have you seen the movie Only the Strong? Then this event is for you.
And even if you don’t, this event is still for you.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that weaves together dance, acrobatics, music, and martial movements. Join us at Renaissance Park for an immersive introduction.

We’ll start with a welcoming, open-level class with no experience needed. After that, members of Capoeira Chattanooga will offer a performance demonstration. Then we’ll open the circle and invite everyone into the heart of capoeira: the roda, a dynamic two-hour community circle filled with live music, call-and-response songs, powerful kicks, and playful trickery.

You don’t need to know what capoeira is to attend.
You just need to be curious.

Come see, feel, and begin to understand this powerful art.
Come be moved in body, mind, and spirit.
