About the event

Benevolent, Irish and Social: 200 years of Service to Islanders
The Board of the BIS and the members of the 200-Year Anniversary Celebration Committee are pleased to announce that on June 1, 2025 our exhibit will be opening at the Confederation Centre for the Arts.

The Exhibit is one of the 48 events that are part of the celebration. It will be displayed in the glass cases of the Concourse from June 1 – September 30 of 2025 and is called Benevolent, Irish and Social: 200 years of Service to Islanders.

This exhibit, led by committee member Paula Kenny in conjunction with Gallery Director Kevin Rice, spanned 4+ years of research effort to be able to locate, document and display the many artifacts from our BIS archives and from numerous other sources. It s reflective of the significant contribution of the BIS over 200 years to Island culture and history.

You will not want to miss this exhibit. Bring the family.
