85 Engineer's Way, Charlottesville, United States
Join us for an exciting event featuring UVA Engineering’s own Dr. Rachel Letteri and Dr. Kelsey Kubelick! 🔬 What you’ll hear: Dr. Rachel Letteri works at the intersection of polymers and peptides — in plain terms, she designs “smart” materials that can interact with living systems in helpful ways. Think of hydrogels or coatings that can change or respond to their surroundings, deliver therapeutics, or help tissue repair. Dr. Kelsey Kubelick builds new imaging tools by combining light and sound (especially ultrasound + photoacoustic techniques). Her work lets us see deep inside the body with cellular or molecular detail, guiding therapies, tracking cells, and giving doctors real-time feedback. 🎯 Why attend: This is a great opportunity to see how cutting-edge engineering is being used right now to advance health, medicine, and biotechnology. You’ll come away with a better sense of how advanced materials and imaging technologies are shaping the future of medicine and engineering. Don’t miss this chance to engage with pioneering UVA researchers pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in chemical and biomedical engineering. Free convenient parking. Light refreshments.
