The Timmerman Family has become a staple in the Columbia/Irmo/Chapin community over the years. Their sweet 9-year-old son Jack is a burst of joy. He is the kind of kid who lights up every room, and never stops cheering for others, even on his hardest days. But Jack is fighting for his life against CLN1 Batten Disease, an extremely rare, fatal neurodegenerative disorder that has stolen most of his vision and will eventually take his mobility, cognition, and eventually his life- unless a miracle intervenes.
On August 25th, Jack will become one of the first children in the world to receive an experimental gene replacement treatment because there are no other options. It will require him to be in isolation in Chicago for a month.
518 Smokehouse has generously allowed us to utilize their space and a portion of your purchase will go towards expenses the Timmermans will endure. We will have a dj, blow up guitars and microphones so you get in on the fun, and of course, dancing.
Our goal for this event is for our community to have a place to gather in order to encourage The Timmermans, meet Jack, and raise money for their upcoming expenses. Our hope is that this will leave Jack with a lasting memory surrounded by a community who loves him.
