About the event

Monthly Crop Swap by Slow Food Singleton
Bring your local, home-grown fresh produce to our Crop Swap tables to share with other gardeners! How does it work?
# Harvest your produce (fresh, dirt removed, but not washed or processed in any way) We highly encourage produce grown without synthetic chemicals or pesticides
# 9.30 – 9.50am: Donate it to the crop swap table in the library foyer and retrieve your swapper card
# 10am: Swap for produce that others have brought along
# 10.30am: Swap finishes and we pack up

Don’t have any locally home-grown produce to swap?
No worries! After the 10am swap takes place, the swap table will open up to community members and for a small donation to Slow Food Singleton, you will be able to choose produce.

The list of what you CAN and CAN'T swap is below.

Remember to BYO bag!

Proudly organised by local community group Slow Food Singleton, and facilitated by Singleton Public Library and Singleton Council Environmental Services team with many thanks.

What CAN be swapped:
# Fruit, vegetables and herbs that have been harvested, dirt removed, but not washed or processed in any way
# Vegies eg pumpkins may be cut if needed, but we prefer if they are swapped whole
# Seedlings of edible plants ONLY (ie fruit, herb and vegetable plants)
# Eggs ONLY if they are stamped as per Food Authority requirements*
# Nuts – only if in a container and clearly labelled

What CAN’T be swapped:
# Eggs if they are not stamped as per Food Authority requirements*
# Seedlings of non-edible plants
# Honey
# Pots of succulents
# Any prepared food eg relishes, jams, bread, cake etc

*Info re egg stamping from NSW Food Authority:
Responsibilities of small egg farms
(producing less than 20 dozen eggs per week):
see www.foodauthority.nsw.gov.au/industry/eggs/small-egg-farms your flock needs to be notified to the Food Authority and any eggs sold/shared must be stamped. The Food Authority sends free stamping equipment to you once you notify them. It’s an easy process and provides a safeguard in the event of a food poisoning incident or disease outbreak.
Please note that the only exemption from labelling is if the eggs are sold/shared directly from your farm gate i.e. the customer attends your property to collect them.
