Paper Marbling Workshop With Artist Matthew Willie Garcia

Discover the art of Japanese paper marbling in this hands-on Suminagashi workshop led by artist Matthew Willie Garcia. Learn traditional techniques behind this centuries-old craft and create your own one-of-a-kind marbled paper designs. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!

This free workshop takes place on Saturday, May 24th, from 12 PM to 2 PM in the NewBo City Market Culinary Kitchen. Presented in coordination with CR Pride and supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. No RSVP required.

This event is part of a collaborative project between NewBo City Market, CR Pride, METRO High School, and Eastern Iowa Arts Academy. This series of workshops will culminate in a community art installation in NewBo’s expansion, to be revealed at this year’s Pridefest!
