The Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Clemson University will be the first in South Carolina. Upon accreditation, the college will leverage the University’s existing animal health programs and infrastructure to create a veterinary medicine workforce to fill a statewide shortage of veterinarians.
The curriculum will be rigorous, but students' well-being will be prioritized throughout the four-year program. Students will be taught using a semi-distributive model, allowing them to gain the skills necessary to become highly skilled veterinarians and a vast knowledge of job opportunities immediately upon receiving their doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM).
The Harvey S. Peeler Jr. CVM aims to serve the greater needs of the state of South Carolina by providing in-state students with the option to stay in their home state to pursue their DVM degree.
Come to the SC Agricultural Council meeting on May 8 to hear Dr. Steven Marks, Founding Dean of Clemson's College of Veterinary Medicine, speak about this great addition to South Carolina's higher education and animal industry.
