The Ballyhaunis Community Council are excited to announce an exciting programme of events for Heritage Week 2025.
National Heritage Week celebrates Ireland's cultural, built and natural heritage. It brings together volunteers, community groups and heritage enthusiasts from August 16-24, 2025.

🧶Wool Craft Day (Sun, 17th August)
“From Fleece to Garment: A Foundation of Slow Fashion.”
A full of workshops led by fiber artists in knitting, weaving, spinning and crochet. Free Children's weaving workshop will be organised.
In addition, talks on the history of Foxford Mills and sustainability are planned for the day.
Workshops are limited to 10 persons with a donation of €20 per person going towards supplies and materials. Email

⚒️Forged Gates (Sat, 23rd August)
Multimedia exhibition on forged (wrought iron) farm gates, a symbol of Irish attachment to land and rural craftmanship.
🚲High Nelly Nostalgia (Sat, 23rd August)
An audiovisual presentation by Ballyhaunis Bike Clinic on the high nelly bicycle, once manufactured in Ireland. They’ll also present two high nellies recently refurbished by the group.
Plus, exhibition of photos taken by Henry Madden over the years.
All events take place in the Ballyhaunis Community Hall.
