SOUTHWESTERN FOLK NOIR meets 70's SONGWRITER ROCK in ANNA LA MARE's bold, unique, and captivating new project. Compared to the likes of Gram Parsons Project, Jefferson Airplane, Lera Lynn, Lucinda Williams, The Grateful Dead, and the modern yet nostalgic sounds of Sierra Ferrell, this special twist on vocal and lyric driven folk rock is earnest, poignant, raw, moody, but above all : fun.
"Damn Sam" is a Carrboro, North Carolina based band that focuses on original lyrics and music written by Anna La Mare. Joined by Georgia Moon on bass (singer/songwriter), Jones Bell on keys (Mellow Swells), Rob DiMauro on drums (Heat Preacher), Zac Eitel and Chris Bonelli on guitars (Ghost + Bones), Anna steps (mostly) away from her ballad-focused solo project - filling the stage with big sound, layered harmonies, gothic elements, thunderous vocals, and exploratory & eclectic guitar riffs.
This seemingly paradoxical combination of uplifting yet gothic folk rock and grief driven lyrics creates an authentic, introspective, and elevating experience all its own.
