A Walk at Windsor

We are happy to announce another FREE evening walk with local legend Jan Smith. We will tour the prairie garden and native habitat she has created at Windsor Park, her housing community in Carol Stream. Besides knowledge about the various plants she has established and the process she took to create a pollinator refuge, she will also touch upon her journey in developing a native habitat on the grounds of a traditionally managed property. Many in DuPage might be familiar with the struggle that can arise when dealing with either HOAs or other restrictive regulations when trying to create their own native plantings. We hope Jan's prairie garden and her successes with her community's landscape management team will inspire others to try the same in their own neighborhoods.

We will be meeting at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr, Carol Stream, IL 60188. When entering from North Avenue, please park your vehicle in the visitor parking area to the right of the stop sign after the gate. We will be gathering at the pond pavilion to the left of the stop sign, which is a short walking distance from parking. This area will have two swans, as well as tables and chairs. This will be a walking tour, so please be aware if you have mobility issues.

For those who are interested, Jan creates lovely garden stepping stones from native plants which she uses to fund her various endeavors. They are $40 each if you are interested in supporting her causes. Cash or check is preferred.
