History of LGBTQIA+ Musicals

Musical theatre has often been associated with high camp, but there’s a long history of Queer creatives and representation in the genre. In this workshop, we’ll look at the history of Queerness in musicals, dive into works like La Cage Aux Folles and Rent and look at the future of musical theatre with shows like The Prom and Why Am I So Single?

This session will take the format of a talk about the history of musical theatre and a chance for Q&A and discussion about Queer musicals, what we take from them and where they might be heading.
