Ania Drewniok will sing songs from her debut EP 'ćmi sie' with a wonderful band:
Benedict Stephens - double bass
Evan Williams - piano
Aaron Shotton - guitar
Matt Barclay - drums
Paul Mason - tenor sax/soprano sax/flute
Stephen Shotton - clarinet/alto sax
Toby Kearns - trumpet
‘ćmi sie’ translates from the Silesian language into ‘it’s getting dark’.
This song cycle is a mix of Ania's original compositions and her arrangements of traditional Silesian tunes, which her babcia (nan) taught her.
All the pieces explore the themes of night, sleep, and dreaming.
Before a set of music from the album, the band will play a set of Polish jazz. The night is close to St. Andrew’s Day, which in Poland is celebrated as a night of fortune-telling and magic. While we might not reveal your fortune, we can certainly create a magical atmosphere.
Tickets on the door: £10/£6 students
You’ll also be able to buy CDs for £10 each (cash or transfer)
