Alya just got back from a month in EU and is ready to guide you into unraveling and repatterning - to cultivate stability to grow mobility. Starting the series with Bartenieff Fundamental’s developmental patterns, playing with Laban’s dynamics of linear, diagonal and spiraling movement. This series will also incorporate a set warmup, dancers can refine their technique through the weeks with some standing training based on her time with the Jose Limon Company.
One class will be dedicated to Butoh (a community request).
As Dance Initiative's “Artist in Residence" some material from her new project “Disappeared” may be part of the sequences.
Dancers can audition to have the opportunity to work with Alya on this project.
