“Poetic Canvas”
..... where words and images come alive
This course is an invitation to bring a personally chosen poem to life—through color, texture, and image. You’ll select a poem that resonates with your current life journey or speaks to a place you long for. From there, we’ll explore a range of creative techniques that help the words unfold into visual form.
Poetry speaks in images, and process art gives those images room to breathe. As we follow the thread of language into layers of mark-making and mixed media, we’ll discover new perspectives and give shape to stories that may be waiting to be seen.

I’m excited about this offering where we’ll explore how words and images can come together to tell our personal stories. You will use your poem as a creative guide through a variety of expressive techniques; including and not limited to mixed media collage, touch drawing, clay and print making.
Poetry naturally speaks in images, making it a powerful starting point for visual exploration. As we work with a poem that move us, we’ll uncover layers of meaning and translate them into artworks. This journey will open up new ways of seeing, feeling, and expressing through art.
