WORKSHOP SUPPLIES:
Mumbo Gumbo Quilt is a fun, wonderful way to use up some of your scraps. I like it made in brights, but I have also made it with Halloween fabric, and Christmas fabric.
NO pattern necessary.
If you would like to do a “swap,” bring 10-2 ½ inch strips of either bright polka dot fabric or brights to the workshop.
Other Workshop Needs:
1-Sewing Basics;
2-Sewing machine in working order;
3-Variety of brights/polka dots 2”-3” wide. Any length from 5”-13”;
4-12 ½ “ square ruler.
5-Decide what color you want for the center. Yellow and black will make it POP! ½ yard black print; ½ yard yellow print.
I used red/green for my Christmas one and orange and black for my Halloween one.
*Pre-cutting and pre-sewing directions will be given out after sign-ups!
GET READY to make a QUICK, FUN HAPPY QUILT:
1-Cut 24-4-inch black squares in half diagonally.
2-Cut 24-4-inch squares in half diagonal. These squares will be the color you choose (yellow, red, orange, etc.) If I am using brights and/or polka dots, I always use yellow.
3- Sew 1 black and 1 colored triangle together to make 48 half-squares. Square these blocks up. I squared mine to 3 1/2 inches.
That is it for the presewing!
You can decide how large or how small you want your quilt.
If you make 48 half-squares, quilt can be 63 inches x 84 inches with your squares being made 11 inches.
12 1/2-inch blocks will measure 72 inches x 96 inches.
