The Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) is delighted to announce the return of its much-anticipated annual charity walk, Blisters for Bread, in association with Lucky Star. The walk will take place on Sunday, 31 August 2025, at the Common Fields in Green Point, opposite the Green Point Cricket Club.
Now in its 57th year, Blisters for Bread is far more than just a walk – it is a heartfelt movement that brings communities together to say no to childhood hunger. With the unwavering support of participants, sponsors, and volunteers, the event aims to raise critical funds to provide daily nutritious meals to impoverished schoolchildren throughout the Western Cape.
Starting in Stephan Way, Green Point, and finishing at the Common Fields, the event offers two scenic route options along Cape Town’s beloved Sea Point Promenade:
10km walk – starts at 07:30
5km walk – starts at 08:00
All entrants will receive a commemorative medal and complimentary refreshments, kindly sponsored by Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages.
In addition to the walk, participants can enjoy a vibrant morning of family-friendly entertainment, featuring live performances by some of Cape Town’s leading musical talents and a range of engaging activities for children and adults alike. It is a fun and meaningful outing for families, friends, schools, work colleagues and community groups.
“Blisters for Bread is more than an event – it’s a movement that brings hope and nourishment to thousands of children. Every Rand raised and every kilometre walked helps us ensure that no child has to learn on an empty stomach,” says Petrina Pakoe, Director of PSFA. “We invite everyone – young and old – to walk with purpose and be part of this extraordinary cause.”
Entries are now open, and flexible registration options are available for individuals and groups. The R100 entry fee will enable PSFA to provide breakfast and lunch to 20 hungry schoolchildren for a day. Official event T-shirts are available at R150.
Please note that only online entries will be accepted, and participation is limited to 8,000 walkers. Registration closes at midnight on Sunday, 17 August 2025, so early sign-ups are strongly encouraged to avoid disappointment.
