Let’s work together to improve housing and strengthen Canton’s future!
----------------------------------
WHY IT MATTERS?:
We're doing this survey because housing is one of the biggest foundations of economic development — without safe, adequate, and attractive housing, it’s harder to attract new residents, retain workers, support local businesses, and grow the tax base.
More specifically, the Housing Stock Survey will:
- Document current housing conditions — identifying properties that are in good condition, need repair, or are at risk of becoming unsafe.
- Provide hard data that can be used for grant applications, housing programs, and investment proposals.
- Help city leaders and developers understand demand for different housing types (affordable, senior, workforce, etc.).
- Guide revitalization strategies for neighborhoods and business districts.
- Support long-term economic growth by ensuring the community has the housing needed to attract and retain residents.
In other words — this isn’t just about buildings. It’s about strengthening Canton’s future economy, population stability, and overall quality of life.
