GardenShare will be hosting a very special event and discussion about the importance of Regenerative Farming. We are partnering with Healing Pastures and Canton Apples for an evening of music, food and discussion. This event will feature Mark Shepards - one is a nationally recognized author and musician and the other is our own local Mark Shepard of Healing Pastures Farm, singer/songwriter and resident shepherd at Canton Apples. Along with an informative discussion on regenerative farming, the Mark Shepards will be sharing their musical talents with the audience as well.
Mark Shepard of New Forest Farm, Wisconsin will be at the event sharing insights about his farming along with his musical talents. Mark is a visionary leader in regenerative agriculture and the founder of Restoration Agriculture Development (RAD). With decades of hands-on experience, he has pioneered the integration of agroforestry, water management, and perennial food systems to create resilient, ecologically sound, and economically viable farm landscapes. As the steward of New Forest Farm in Wisconsin, Mark transformed a degraded row-crop farm into a thriving 106-acre perennial agricultural ecosystem, recognized as one of the first large-scale, farm-scale ecosystem mimicry projects in the United States. His award-winning book, Restoration Agriculture, has inspired farmers worldwide to rethink conventional agriculture and adopt nature-based, regenerative practices.
At RAD, Mark continues to guide landowners, farmers, and organizations in designing and implementing systems that restore degraded landscapes while producing abundant food, fuel, and fiber. His expertise makes him a sought-after consultant, educator, and speaker in the field of regenerative agriculture.
Discussion will include topics such as:
- What is “Restoration Agriculture” and why it matters for farming today
-Practical examples from New Forest Farm: transforming degraded farmland into a thriving perennial ecosystem
-The role of agroforestry, water management, and perennial crops in resilient food systems
-How regenerative agriculture addresses climate, biodiversity, and economic challenges
-Inspiring landowners and communities to adopt regenerative approaches at scale
We are looking forward to a great night of community building and education surrounding this important topic. Information about food and drink will be shared soon. To make it accessible for all, admission cost is a donation of your choosing to GardenShare. The event will be held at the Crary Mills Community Center in Canton. Please note that this is a CASH ONLY facility, as there is no cell service or wifi.
