Over a dozen years of writing songs, hundreds of live shows as festival favourites The Soul Moversand thousands of hours on the road and in the sky -recording at many of the world's most iconic studios together -Lizzie Mackand yes, you know him, Murray Cook, have decided to unplug, strip back and pull out some slightly dusty and a bit lost tracks from over their four albums together.
They plan to sort out the B-Sides that are maybe a bit too gentle, sultry or deep for the hard scrutiny of a five piece band but just perfect for an intimate, acoustic, story-telling seance. Raw, real and feeling it, Lizzie, on lead vocal and percussion, and Murray, on acoustic guitar and b/vs, will be leaving the retro glamour behind and keeping it street.
“We are really excited to be able to get up close and personal in this format. Coming down from big festival stages is quite intimidating, but as humans we often share our "deepest secret" songs in a whisper – and to whisper we have to get up close”, Lizzie says.
And as Murray says, “These are our stories, the most satisfying part of our lives over the last decade has been sharing them with folks who are up for a listen and to enjoy feeling that communal connection around stories that connect our hearts, minds and souls. I loved my time with The Wiggles, those decades were very important for our families, but in the past ten years I’ve got to sing, play multiple instruments and contribute more sophisticated musical ideas. It’s been deeply rewarding. At this age and stage we are reaching for some kind of musical mastery or completion – and I really feel I’m finding that now in the music Lizzie and I are returning to and making.”
