Zakim Bridge Lighting for Foster Care Alumni Week
Come join us for a special event celebrating Foster Care Alumni Week at the North Bank Pedestrian Bridge at 8 PM on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. Witness the iconic Zakim Bridge light up blue and green in honor of foster care alumni.
MassNFCA is celebrating alumni of foster care and out-of-home placement during Foster Care Awareness month. MassNFCA has named the 3rd week of May (May 18-25, 2025) as Foster Care Alumni Week in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Alumni of foster care deserve their own dedicated week during Foster Care Awareness Month to honor their resilience, elevate their voices, and recognize their unique experiences beyond foster care and out-of-home placement. While much of the month focuses on children currently in care, too often the stories and needs of alumni of foster care are overlooked. A week for foster care alumni provides an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, acknowledge the challenges they continue to face, and raise awareness about the lifelong impact of foster care and out-of- home placement. Lighting the bridge in blue and green symbolizes not only visibility, but solidarity, hope, and the enduring strength of those who have experienced the foster care system and emerged with powerful stories to tell.
Join us on May 17th at 8 PM to see the bridge light up, and for light refreshments afterwards!
