And I don’t even remember what I did do, and if I do remember…

Like did I even really enjoy myself?

In what feels like a recession, going out seems more expensive than ever, and this is the safe space to talk about it because what we are noticing, especially the generation that’s just being allowed to drink in public now, is that a night out especially involving alcohol doesn’t even seem worth it. This is why sober living and alcohol free wine bars seem to be popping up out of nowhere.

In 2025, over one in five (22%) Americans plan to visit a sober bar, with 41% of Gen Z expressing interest (conexiant.com).

If it’s a weekday and I managed to snag a reservation to a restaurant I’ve always wanted to go to, and it’s between the $15 and martini or the seven dollar raspberry lemonade, you can bet I’m ordering the fancy lemonade elixir drink because I don’t feel like nursing a hangover on a workday. It’s not hard to see why.

Drinking excessive alcohol triggers dehydration, inflammation, irritates the gastrointestinal system, stomach upset, anxiety and tremors, all while potentially lowering blood sugar = the typical hangover.

In today’s day and age with running clubs for social wellness and our post pandemic concern for health, join Psychedelic Salons Creative Director Mia Cara Cosco and Dray founder Pat Dooling for a Sunday night where you will unearth the benefits of a plant based and alcohol, free sober drinking experience in one of the two fabulous Dray locations in Boston (we'll be in Cambridge). You’ll learn why sober living is not just a phase or a temporary movement, you’ll connect with others who are also looking to share and learn more about healthy lifestyles and afterwards, you’ll feel like you actually glow up instead of shot your liver and your wallet all so you could have the illusion of a great night out.

1. The emerging trend of functional drinks, including plant based ingredients--popular replacements for alcohol.
2. The potential for work with psychedelics to support people in recovery—lots of emerging work and research on the potential for people to use medicines to treat/cure addition.

Pat Dooling is a long-time entrepreneur, operator, and investor in building businesses of a variety of types, including consumer/retail, technology, health/wellness, and real estate. Pat founded Dray because of his own personal passion to improve people’s lives through for-profit endeavors that can succeed in doing well by doing good. He believes strongly in the overall health/wellness trends Dray is addressing, and is a passionate non-drinker himself. Beyond Dray, Pat is actively working on other projects to find unique ways to help people seeking sobriety or reduce alcohol consumption.

Before Dray, Pat worked at Bain & Company, Bain Capital, Riverside Partners, and ran his own commercial real estate development firm. Pat earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. Pat has lived in Boston’s South End since 2006, and now lives right around the corner from Dray’s first brick-and-mortar location with his wife and two elementary school-age sons.
