Materials Lab Workshop: Kitchen Lithography

Join us for an introduction to the art of lithography. This workshop will begin with a viewing of Edvard Munch’s lithographs and a lithographic stone in the exhibition Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking. Exhibition co-curator and curatorial fellow Peter Murphy will discuss Munch’s complex approach to this printmaking technique. We will then proceed to the Materials Lab to learn about the fundamentals of lithography by experimenting with “kitchen lithography”; that is, prints made with accessible materials you may have in your kitchen. The session will be guided by co-curator and assistant paper conservator Abigail Schleicher.

All materials will be provided.

The hands-on session will take place in the Materials Lab on the Lower Level.

$15 workshop fee. Registration is required and space is limited; registration will open on this form beginning on Tuesday, July 8, at 10am. Workshop fee must be paid to confirm registration. Minimum age of 14; no previous experience required.
