Artist bios…
Depending on who you ask, Lee Ashcroft is a musician, writer, social care worker, artist, theremin player, autistic man, internet radio host, 2-time loser of BBC’s Pointless, or 1-time member of The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu. In music context: Moody beats for a post-lockdown hellscape. Contains theremin. Mournful bass, synth washes and lethargic rhythms, born from anguish, leading to hope.
Twenty-Three Hanging Trees is the moniker of French-born composer and musician Xavier Watkins, who has lived in the UK for over two decades. Originally known as the guitarist for the critically acclaimed experimental folk and kraut-folk band Fuzzy Lights, Watkins has since shifted his focus to modular synthesis and minimalist electronic music. He experiments with a Buchla Music Easel, incorporating composition techniques inspired by Laurie Spiegel.
laura dymphna improvises with the Concrete Gazebo collective, has performed at Quip & Curiosity’s Hidden Channels using a Walkman and hearing aid app, and contributed to the Cities & Memory project. She uses a laptop and live looping to process field recordings, reimagining everyday sounds to create music that is both grounded in the present moment and ethereal.
NO Moore is a musician whose interest in electronic sound and timbral manipulation combines with appreciation for the historical techniques for playing/abusing electric guitars. In short, he rocks. Notable collaborators, live and on record, include Sue Lynch, Eddie Prevost, Henry Kaiser, John Butcher, Caroline Kraabel, Roger Turner, Dominic Lash, Rachel Musson, Steve Noble, Alan Wilkinson, Phil Durrant.
