Join Windborne for a fabulous day of singing together!
LOCATION AND SCHEDULE:
Saturday August 2: Doors 11:30am, Singing noon-6:00pm with breaks throughout the day, at The Foundry, 101 Rogers St, Cambridge, MA 02142
THE SINGING:
We will be teaching a variety of material including Windborne's signature 4-part arrangements, with songs of social struggle, Corsican, Occitan, Lithuanian, Basque, and more.
Participants of all abilities will learn singing styles from a variety of countries and cultures as well as songs of social struggle from movements past and present. All songs will be taught by ear, no sight reading required — just enthusiasm and willingness to try new things! Workshops are a great opportunity to connect with friends and make some new ones, learn music and improve your singing, as well as gather inspiration and energy. We will tell stories about the music and explain the characteristics and stylistic elements of the different traditions. We invite participants to learn some of Windborne's signature arrangements, improve vocal technique and health, and sing together in harmony.
SLIDING SCALE
Windborne is grassroots, people-powered music! We don’t have a label or other organization backing us, and your generosity ensures we can continue this work in a sustainable way. Typically we would charge $75 for this workshop. However, we recognize that there are folks whose economic circumstances would prevent them from taking part if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them to attend at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities.
No one turned away for lack of funds. Please pay what feels both generous and affordable to you. If you can’t afford to pay $75, that’s fine. We want the workshop to be available to everyone, you included. Pay what you can afford. If you can afford to pay more than $75, your generosity goes towards supporting other attendees and making this a viable, accessible, and awesome event. If you would like to pay less or more than the options listed below, please contact us and we will make it happen!
GETTING TO THE FOUNDRY
The Foundry is 0.4 miles away from the Kendall MIT stop where you can catch the Red line and 64, 68, 85, CT2, 64, 68, and 85 buses.
It is 0.5 miles away from the Lechmere stop where you can catch the Green line and 69, 80, 87, and 88 buses.
The Foundry does not have a designated parking lot. Metered parking is available on Third, Fifth, and Rogers St.
PARKING: We suggest parking in the First Street Garage in East Cambridge, an 8 min walk from The Foundry. Weekend parking rates there are $5 for 24 hours.
There is also metered parking in the area but we have been told that you have to move to a new spot every 2 hours (not just refill the meter), and that Cambridge parking officials are very aggressive about ticketing. More info:

HEALTH AND SAFETY: If you have any symptoms of illness or have had a recent exposure, please stay home! Masks are welcome while attending the workshop, and we will have a few HEPA air filters running.
