Widely considered to be the first feature-length found-footage film, THE MCPHERSON TAPE stands as a creepy example of camcorder-era amateur filmmaking. What starts as a family gathering to celebrate a child’s birthday descends into chaos when the remote house is terrorized by a gaggle of little gray aliens. Though its vintage might make it feel pretty campy, with a little imagination, it’s still possible to put yourself into the shoes of someone who has had a fourth or fifth generation bootleg VHS slipped to you as you watch and wonder… wait, could this actually be real?
