Classic Class: Cheese 101

What exactly is cheese, and how does milk become magic? Why are some cheeses oozy and others crumbly? What’s the real difference between Brie and Camembert—or Cheddar and Comté? Can you eat the rind? How should you store cheese at home, and what on earth do you pair it with? Whether you're just beginning your cheese adventures or are ready to add a bit more depth to your cheese journey, this class will give you answers—and plenty to nibble on.

Along the way, you’ll taste your way through lush pastures and funky aging caves. Formaggio Kitchen cheesemonger and former cheesemaker Jennifer Tolliver will guide you through a delicious lineup—from fresh chèvres and buttery bries to bold blues and washed rinds with attitude. You’ll taste cheeses made from cow, goat, and sheep milk—each with its own story—paired with thoughtfully chosen wines or beers to bring their flavors to life.

To fully participate in the class:1. Reserve your ticket through Eventbrite! Purchase one ticket for each member of your party. The ticket price includes admission for one as well as a cheese plate, wine, and accompaniments for one.2. Show up on the day of class! Class will begin at 6:30pm. This is a standing event in our retail learning setting. The duration of the class is about an hour and a half. After class, there will be time to tour our cheese caves as well as shop our expansive product selection (at a 10% discount!).3. This event is for 21+.
