CB1 Open Mic - May

CB1 open mic is back on Sunday 6th April at the Town and Gown Pub & Theatre - Cambridge. As with all of our open mics, it will cost £2 Entry on the door. There will be plenty of slots so you can sign up on the night if you would like to read! Bring a poem or just come to listen to some fantastic poets from around Cambridge. Can’t wait to see you there at 18:30!

This month's spotlight open-mic reader is Andrea Porter!

Andrea has written poetry since she was a teenager which makes 60 years of continuous attempts at getting it right. She has been published in many magazines and anthologies in the UK ,Ireland, Canada Australia and the USA . She has taught for The Poetry School and read at a number of Poetry Festivals, such as Aldeburgh, Canterbury and Ledbury, She was a member of The Joy of Six Poetry ensemble who performed in many venues and Poetry Festivals throughout the UK and in New York.

She was included in the Forward Best Poems of the Decade Anthology and has had her poems displayed in Canterbury Cathedral in a series of poems about women and their lives.

She is still trying to get it right sixty years on and is putting together a pamphlet in the voice of clones in a futuristic society and another pamphlet responding to various Shakespearean characters .

She lives on the edge of the Fens and is used to big skies and horizons that trace the curve of the earth. She is easily spotted in such a landscape as she is exceptionally tall.
