Community historian Catherine Clement will share the backstory to her award-winning, national project that uncovered this monumental yet mostly forgotten chapter of Canadian history. Hear some of the stories she excavacated which reveal, through individual lives, the human experience of this darkest period for Chinese in Canada. A number of stories in the book were crowdsourced from Alberta families, and many are being shared publicly for the first time. This talk may change how you understand Canadian history.
