Let's saddle our bicycles and 'Yee-Haw'!
This weekend is perfect time to spur your metal horse and to get famous Calgarian Stampede Breakfast. And to have a fun group bike ride, for sure!
This year we have two different Stampede Breakfasts close to Glenmore Reservoir:
1) Saturday, July 05. CF Chinook Centre, from 7 am to 11 am.
2) Sunday, July 06. Calgary Sailing School, from 10 am to 2 pm.
The weather is unpredictable and there are chances of rain this weekend.
So, my plan is: now we're scheduling our ride for Saturday, July 05. In case of rain it is automatically rescheduled for Sunday, July 06.
Meeting point: CF Chinook Centre regardless of the day. 10:00 am if it is Saturday, 11:00 am if it is Sunday.
Parking is free. If you go by c-train - the nearest station is Chinook, but I don't recommend you to use c-train during Stampede time (trains will be full with people).
Route: go to Glenmore Reservoir from the mall, then we go counterclockwise.
Approximate distance: 20 km.
Speed: moderate. Several pitstops to take group photos.
Conditions: all paved, good for all types of bikes.
Difficulty: 2 steep hills, but you can dismount your bike and walk up it (we will wait everyone on tops).
Fitness level: you should be able to ride 20 km at moderate speed. If you're slow it will take you more than 3 hours, so just plan accordingly.
Mandatory staff: water.
Optional staff: sunglasses, sunscreen.
Cowboy's hats and boots are not mandatory, but it will make our ride even more fun and memorable if you dress stampede-style.
