Formed in Cowtown in 2019, The Rifle County Players are self-described as “punks turned twangers,” dishing out country psych rock with just a touch of camp. What began with classic covers and spaghetti western-inspired instrumentals turned into a mess of local shows, a 2024 west coast tour, and a growing catalogue — including new music this year!

THE GARRYS – Saskatoon, SK @thegarrysband
Featuring four siblings from the coldest part of the landlocked Canadian prairies, The Garrys, perhaps surprisingly, make surf music. They use layered blood harmonies, hazy sun-bleached melodies, classic lo-fi guitar tones, and syncopated surf beats to create a unique “doom-wop” sound, dripping with dark nostalgia and touched by psychedelic dread.

SPIRIT HOTEL – Missoula, MT @spirit_hotel
Led by the enchanting Nataanii Cornelius, Spirit Hotel blends country, punk, shoegaze, and any other sound that underscores her thoughts. She sings about love and loss in a way that ensures every cowpoke and cowpunk is gonna feel it. Like Orville Peck discovering a fuzz pedal, their shows are a mystical hootenanny with invites for all.

CARTER FELKER BAND – Calgary, AB @carterefelker
Intricacy is often overlooked when accompanied by the sort of plain-spoken straight talk fashioned by Calgary singer-songwriter Carter Felker. His nimble self-accompaniment neatly underscores the raw, universal themes he brings to life with his reedy tenor and country prairie anthems. This one’s for all devotees of Clark, Van Zandt and Prine.
