About the Poets:
Dr. Irene Naested is an author, visual artist and educator, living in Calgary. She will be presenting the second edition of “Light as it Falls (2020)”. This new edition “Come Dance with Me” becomes a conversation, with focus on balance. Irene encourages readers and viewers to create balance of energy in writing, art, music and life. The books contains 71 images in black, white and grey which Irene has created. Please come and join in the conversation on June 12th at Shelf-Life Books.

Kelly Shepherd's third poetry collection, Dog and Moon, was published in spring 2025 by Oskana Poetry & Poetics. His second collection, Insomnia Bird (Thistledown, 2018) won the 2019 Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize. Kelly has written eight chapbooks, and he is a poetry editor for the environmental philosophy journal The Trumpeter. Originally from Smithers, BC, Kelly lives and teaches on Treaty 6 territory, in Edmonton.
Natalie Simpson is the author of accrete or crumble (LINEbooks) and Thrum (Talonbooks). Her poetry has appeared in several anthologies, including The Best Canadian Poetry in English, and many chapbooks, most recently Anonymous Widow Anonymous Wife from Kyle Flemmer’s Blasted Tree press and post spell from Gap Riot press in Toronto.
