Some new Super 8 cameras were generously donated to CSIF and we're adding them to our inventory to rent. This class will be led by experienced analog filmmaker and instructor Phil Letourneau, and will focus on how to operate the Beaulieu 4008 and Beaulieu 6008 Super 8 film cameras correctly. This includes battery installation, how to focus the viewfinder and lens, how to set exposure manually and automatically, and some of the other unique features of these models. After the workshop you will be able to correctly expose film and produce focused images with these finely crafted cameras.
This seminar is specifically about correct operation and usage, and would not include shooting any film. However, we hope it gives you an incentive to use the cameras for future projects.
This event is sponsored by the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. CSIF was founded in 1978 by a collective of twelve filmmakers who saw the growing need for film resources and film equipment on the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), also known as Calgary, Alberta. Now over 40 years later we are an integral part of the growing cultural community in Calgary and are excited about new collaborations and opportunities.
