About the event

0Stella with Cupid's Heart
Alt-rock Irish fusion artist 0Stella hits the legendary King Eddy stage with Cupid's Heart on May 30.

About 0Stella:

0Stella is an Alt-Rock Irish Fusion force where sound, sustainability, and connection meet. Based in Edmonton, Alberta and inspired by PJ Harvey’s song, 'Oh, Stella,' the name celebrates the power of opposites coming together. With a deep connection to the natural world and 8,500 km of cycle touring under her belt, 0Stella’s about making an impact, not just noise.

With sell-out shows in Ireland and Canada, and performing for Oscar-winner Glen Hansard, 0Stella's [oh-Stella] alt-rock Irish fusion is captivating audiences everywhere. This is rock and roll with traditional Irish fiddle and bodhrán (sometimes wrapped in thick distortion) and catchy pop melodies that shimmer with rebellion. 0Stella sings in both English and Irish and regularly engages the crowd to sing along in both languages - whether performing solo or with her 5-piece band. 0Stella's unique sound deftly combines Canadian rock with Irish storytelling and folk music and draws comparisons to Paramore, Garbage, Lana Del Rey and The Frames. The zero-waste advocate (thus the zero in her name) accumulated a staggering 8,500 kms of cycling in support of her two albums, Freefall (2022) and Skyward (2023), while advocating for environmental conservation. The cycling album tour took 0Stella across Canada and Europe. A full vinyl record called Pendulum State, combining Freefall and Skyward with a bonus track, was released 8th March 2025 on Dead Doll Records. It entered the CJSR 88.5 FM charts at #1 one where it has stayed for 2 weeks.

0Stella began her solo tour on Earth Day, April 20, 2022, with her bike, a tent, solar panel and carbon fibre guitar, and embarked on an awe-inspiring cycling tour from Victoria, BC, to Halifax, NS. The tour resonated deeply with fellow Canadians, as 0Stella forged genuine connections with people after prolonged isolation. In 2023 she cycled through BC once again before making her way through Europe on her Who Needs This cycling tour to promote her Skyward album. The tour included sold-out shows at Irish venues like The Ruby Sessions and Whelan's. 0Stella finished off the year with ‘Fighting To Get Along’ being listed on Nova Radio's 100 Best Indie Songs of 2023. Expect extraordinary performances with her signature alt-rock sound infused with Irish storytelling and folk influences.

About Cupid's Heart:

Welcome to the journey of Cupid's Heart — the band that is out to win yours!

A combination of the unruly and the refined, Cupid’s Heart uses cello, electric guitar, drums, and low female vocals for a grungy take on alt-rock that fits them like a baggy sweater. Sonically described by Scott Roos of North Sask Music Zine as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana”, Cupid’s Heart expresses some of the complexities that go along with love and life, and does so from a queer female perspective. Band founders Emma Jean and Stacey Dunn met on an online dating app in 2022 and began Cupid's Heart in Regina, SK. The band saw the addition of Zachary Kerr on drums in 2024. The band is currently based in the Northern community of Prince Albert, SK, a small city hovering on the edge of Saskatchewan’s Boreal wilderness.

Cupid’s Heart released their debut EP, Atrium in July 2023, and has seen airplay on multiple community and college radio stations across Canada. They have been actively playing and performing since forming in May of 2022. Cupid's Heart is proud to represent Stacey's Indigenous heritage, and were honored when 2023 also saw the band nominated for a SaskMusic Award in the Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year category.

Their latest releases include single release "Pick Me Up" (2024), and a stop motion animation Official Music Video for "Peace" by artist Jon Harrison Kendrick. They continue to carry their energetic and captivating momentum into 2024 and beyond.
