Over the last decade, we’ve learned a great deal about how to promote healthy child development in the digital age by creating and managing ActiveforLife.com and innovative programs like Learn Through Active Play (LTAP). This presentation shares key insights from that journey—what we’ve observed, what we’ve built, and what we believe is needed to re-establish the role of active play in children’s lives.
The presentation covers six key points:
1. The evolution of active play in our society
2. The gradual replacement of active play by virtual play, and its consequences on the overall development of the child
3. A solution: equipping parents and educators to engage children in active play
4. An approach: developing physical literacy
5. A concrete example: the Learn Through Active Play (LTAP) program in childcare
6. Practical tools and resources for Educators to support active play
