Step into the world of nighttime biodiversity with Kent County Parks and our friends at Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds (LGROW)! Join us for a guided mothing event along the Thornapple River and experience nature’s night shift in action.

📅 9:30 p.m. to Midnight on Sunday, July 20
📍 Fred W. Ruehs Park, 68th St Entrance

Moths are more than just nighttime flutterers—they’re essential pollinators that play a vital role in our ecosystems. Learn how to spot them, use the iNaturalist app to help with ID, and contribute to local biodiversity data in a fun, hands-on way.

🔦 What to Bring:
A flashlight or headlamp, smartphone, insect repellent, bottled water, and your curiosity!

👟 What to Wear:
Long pants, socks, and closed-toe walking shoes

Main parking lot off 68th Street

Registration is required at kentcountymi.gov/events

Waivers available on-site (children must be accompanied by an adult). Pets (except service animals) are not allowed at volunteer events for safety reasons. We won’t cancel for light rain, but heavy weather may cause delays—watch your email for updates!
