في سياق برنامج «تعليق على ما حدث» ندعوكم للمشاركة في فعالية «صور الضيافة» مع فرح حلابة. تتناول الفعالية موضوع الضيافة والاِستضافة في بيوت وحول موائد طعام وفي شتى الأماكن الأخرى في جلسة لمشاركة الطعام والنقاش.
اِستلهامًا من التقاطعات الهشة والحميمية بين الضيافة والعمل، نتناقش في الاستضافة كفعل كريم أو أدائي، وفي توقعات المضيف وثِقل الضيف. كيف لنا حقًا أن نستضيف، أو نُستضاف؟
دعوة للاِنضمام لنا حول مائدة الطعام (السفرة) لنشارك المشاعر المختلفة التي تستدعيها من ترحيب وحرج، اهتمام وتعب، حضور وغياب. نتصور معًا الضيافة كعبور للعتبة؛ حواجز متخيلة ولكنها محسوسة، حواجز يمكن تخطّيها وأخرى تتأثر بحركتنا معًا، نتفاوض حولها أو ربما نعكسها تمامًا. نتأمل عبء واهتمام إبقاء الأبواب مفتوحة، والعمل العاطفي للضيافة، وسياسية الداعي والمدعو وتوتر محاولات استضافة الغائب أو المُحتمل أو المُتخيل. كيف نكرم الغائب؟ ما الحد الفاصل بين الاستضافة والضيافة؟ من خلال الحضور لمشاركة الأكل والنقاش والتفكير في الغياب، نتساءل عن معاني الترحيب والأدوار التي نلعبها في الضيافة.
هذه الفعالية هي دعوة مفتوحة لمشاركة النقاش حول سياقات ضيافة أخرى أو بيوت أو مساحات مشتركة. للمشاركة في الفعالية برجاء تعبئة الاستمارة عبر الرابط أدناه وإرفاق صورة لسفرة مفضلة لديكم أو تجمع أو أكلة باقية في ذاكرتكم. ستلعب الصور دور نقطة انطلاق للحديث عن موضوعات الفعالية.

«تعليق على ما حدث» برنامج بحثي عن الفن الأدائي والنشر الذاتي، يتناول الممارسات الفنية وعلاقتها بالجمهور والممارسات البحثية الممزوجة في الكتابة كأداة رئيسية في الفنون والثقافة. تطور برنامج «تعليق على ما حدث» في نقاش بين بسام مرتضى، ورنا النمر، وهدى ذكري: ميسرو ثلاث ورش متتابعة عن الكتابة والأدائية، والجماعية وأدوات البحث الفني، حدثت بين أكتوبر وديسمبر 2024 بناءً على دعوة من فريق برمجة مركز الصورة المعاصرة بتول الحناوي وضحى أبوالعز.

In the Context of «Paper and Performance», we invite you to join us for «Crossing the Threshold», a discussion over a meal with Farah Hallaba. The event explores hosting and hospitality in homes, around dinner tables and elsewhere, through the intersections of table settings, sharing food, and discussing.
«Crossing A Threshold» is an event that unfolds at the fragile and intimate intersection of hospitality, vulnerability, and labor—where hosting is both an act of generosity and a performance of control. Where the host is never without expectation, and the guest is never without weight.
Picturing hosting as crossing a threshold, a threshold that is permeable, marked to be shaped, negotiated and inverted. Participants are gathered around a table, where they are invited to experience acts of welcome and awkwardness, care and exhaustion, presence and absence. While considering the care and burden of keeping doors open, the emotional labor of hosting, the politics of invitation and the tension of not knowing how to host the absent.*The potential and the imagined guest. How do we extend generosity to those who are not here? If hosting is based on an invitation, what are the terms of it? What is the threshold between hosting and hospitality?
Guests are invited to bring a photograph of their favorite hosted feast, to exchange stories of gatherings that took place around a table, or to recall a memory of a meal that lingers. These images will themselves be hosted within the space, becoming guests in their own right. Through shared food, conversation, and absence, we will question: What does it mean to extend welcome, and what roles do we play when that happens? Moving between presence and absence, this gathering unfolds at the fragile threshold between invitation/generosity and duty/ labour.

«Paper and Performance» is a research programme on performance and self-publishing exploring artistic practices in relation to the public sphere and research practices employing text as a primary tool in art and culture. «Paper and Performance» was developed in conversation with Bassam Mortada, rana elnemr, and Huda Zikry, who facilitated three consecutive workshops, between October and December 2024 on writing, performativity, and collectivity in art, in collaboration with CIC programming team Batool Elhennawy and Doha Aboelezz.
