We have some great news!
Flash Village Hall is going to run three FREE craft sessions titled Sewing Together: Community Chat & Crafts.
These will be between September 2025 and January 2026. All materials will be provided for the sessions and refreshments will also be included.
This project has been supported by the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Community Social Action Fund.
Session 3
Covering buttons provided work for many women in their own homes from the 17th century, using skills passed down from mother to daughter. Button merchants kept the women supplied with silk thread from the silk mills of Leek and Macclesfield, and the buttons from these towns became recognised nationally.
Our third and final community craft session will be learning how to cover buttons.
The session is free to attend, but please tick "Going" on the event so we can keep a track of numbers. If you would like to come as a group, please send us a message to let me know numbers.
We will also be having a table for button crafts for the children, so please feel free to come along with your family. All ages welcome.
Refreshments included. All materials will be included.
Thanks so much
Emma Chester
