Join us for Slow Balboa Weekend 2026 with Lizou and Cara!
This year’s event will have 2 track levels, 2 days of classes, and 3 nights of social dancing, including a live band on Saturday night!

Slow Bal, or Slow Balboa, is a close embrace swing dance from the 1940s. You dance it to the slow jazz music of that time. It is a playful and elegant dance, influenced by historic dancers Dean and Nancy Raftery and Ray Cunningham.
Slow Bal is danced in close embrace (chest-to-chest.) If you are not comfortable with this proximity then this may not be the dance for you. That being said, each person in a partnership helps to create a comfortable embrace, and consent is still required.
Registration:
Beginner Track
$160 (2 hrs of Intro to Slow Bal + 4 hrs of All Levels classes)
The beginner track is suitable for dancers with no experience in Slow Balboa, however; it is recommended that you have partner dance experience, and are familiar with Balboa basics (upholds, downholds, come arounds and toss outs) - if you do not meet this criteria and would still like to join us, we’d love to have you! Send us a message or email and we can make a plan to get you up to speed before the workshops start.
Intermediate Track
$180 (2 hrs of Intro to Slow Bal* + 4 hrs of All Levels classes + 2 hrs of Intermediate classes)
The intermediate track is recommended for dancers that have previously taken some Slow Balboa classes.
*We encourage intermediate track registrants to attend the Intro classes either as a refresher in your primary role or to try out the opposite role.
If money is an issue, please reach out via messenger or email to chat about volunteer opportunities to help you offset your registration costs.
Weekend pass registration includes classes and all social dances.
