Honey Judge Training Academy

The American Honey Show Training Council will be holding a Honey Judge Training Academy at the Alamance County Extension Center, in Burlington, NC.

This event is designed to provide detailed, hands-on training opportunities for AHSTC program participants. The Academy is open to both Certified Honey Judges and to Honey Judge Candidates.

NOTE: Individuals who attend BOTH days of this event will be awarded TWO (2) Advanced Training Credits, which will count toward rank advancement and/or continuing education requirements.

Training sessions will cover the following areas:

• Updates to the Model Rules
• Writing Great Comment Cards
• Judging Comb Honey
• Judging Beeswax and Candles
• Judging Culinary Exhibits
• Judging Mead
• Judging Photography

These classes will be designed to engage participants, and to encourage conversation and questions. Instructors will cover basic techniques, what to look for when judging exhibits, weighing flaws, common judging mistakes, breaking ties, and the reasons why we do what we do.

There will be a honey show. Everyone is strongly encouraged to participate.
