Session One: Saturday 09-Aug 9am-12pm
Session Two: Sunday 10-Aug 9am-12pm
Session Three: Saturday 16-Aug 9am-12pm
Session Four (Glazing): Saturday 30-Aug 9am-12pm
What you will learn:
Session 1 Wheel Work:
Students will have a revision on the basic techniques in throwing on the potter’s wheel:
- Importance of Centring
- Cylinders the basis of all pots
Students will be guided to throw cups and bowls and select the best 2 of each
Session 2 Hand building Basic:
Students will have a revision on the basic techniques on core hand building skills
They will be guided to slab build and decorate a plate, a spoon and an egg cup
Session 3 Trimming and decoration:
Students will will have a revision on the basic techniques of trimming and finessing wheel thrown pots and hand built items :
- trim the wheel items (select the best cup and the best bowl)
- shown how to pull and add handles to cups
- finalise hand built items
- add pattern to all items to develop a set
Session 4 Glazing:
Students will learn the basics of oxides in glazing, will select glaze and oxide combination and have up to 2 hours to apply oxide and glaze their 5 items to produce a breakfast set.
Please ensure your available for ALL sessions. Make-up classes or refunds will not be offered if you cannot make a session. If you cant make the glazing day, the tutors will glaze your items for you.
