Engagement Session for CHIJ Alumni Members

Dear CHIJ Alumni Member,

You are invited to an engagement session regarding the reinstatement of our original school names, from:

• CHIJ Primary (Toa Payoh) to CHIJ Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (Primary); and

• CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh) to CHIJ Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (Secondary)

Rationale:

1. By restoring our original school names, this will better reflect our status as the mother school of the CHIJ family.

2. The continued use of the CHIJ prefix preserves the shared identity with the wider CHIJ community.

3. The removal of the location-based suffix “Toa Payoh” future-proofs the schools’ identity in the event of relocation and avoids current issues of misnaming and mispronunciation.

The aim of this engagement session is to share the rationale for this name reinstatement. Thereafter, the school management will submit a formal request to MOE for approval of the change.
