“The very first time I had my ears on Mischa Blanos, I was mesmerized by the untempered way of living and playing his music. Or the other way around.
The result of my repeated auditions was inviting him with a solo performance, in 2021, at the 13th edition of Green Hours JAZZ Fest. And it turned out to be the best choice.
Piano is percussion, as Mischa once said. Now we‘re about to witness piano-is-percussion + percussion, because this time Mischa will be joined by a friend of Green Hours, the versatile Venezuelan musician, Anthony Gutierrez. So looking forward to this amazing opening of the 15th edition of Green Hours JAZZ Fest!“
(Rozana Mihalache - director artistic GHJFest)

A Neo-Classical pianist, and a progressive electronic and acoustic composer, Mischa Blanos has been known for his Piano & Electronics solo performances, blending acoustic piano with electronic textures. For the first time, he’s bringing a drummer on stage — the percussionist Anthony Gutierrez — adding new energy and depth to his live show.
This collaboration takes his performance to the next level, making it more immersive and rhythm-driven than ever.

Chico Freeman - tenor & soprano sax, bassclarinet
Reto Weber - exotic percussion

Two-time Grammy nominated saxophonist/composer, Chico Freeman, who was part of some of the most beautiful jazz adventures of the 70s and 80s (Sun Ra, Jack deJohnette's "Special Edition" or "The Leaders," not to mention his famous quartet with Don Pullen) has perfected an immediately recognizable approach to music and composition, blending what he has experienced from his past and providing fluidity into a future of infinite musical possibilities.
Joined by the Swiss percussion maestro Reto Weber, Freeman will enchant the audience of Green Hours JAZZ Fest.

Chico Freeman and Reto Weber were both members of trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff's "Percussion Orchestra," a group that for decades left an ineffaceable mark on the world of jazz. Chico and Reto find in this duo formula an unparalleled freedom & space for creativity and they promise us some extraordinary musical outbreaks.

The absolute best thing in music is when two worlds dissolve or even collapse in a singular body. The right meetings between artists could be tremendous. And so we hope that this one will also make us fall completely in love. Sorin Romanescu and Juan Negretti have played together before, but never in a duo. Until now. The fifteen edition of Green Hours JAZZ Fest will bring these two resourceful musicians finally together, in a project of their own.

Juan Negretti, born in Venezuela, studied architecture in Bucharest and decided to adopt Romania, but instead of building houses here, he started building sounds as a percussionist.

Guitarist, improviser, sound designer, composer and audio producer, Sorin Romanescu is active also in film and contemporary dance, he was a member of the well-known band Sarmalele Reci and he is a constant collaborator of Alexandru Andrieș. Sorin Romanescu plays in Green Hours since its opening, in 1994, he was present in different configurations on the GHJFest stage and a few years ago he premiered here “Sole“ (and e-Sole), a mind blowing solo guitar performance.

Eva Fernández - voice, saxophone, compositions
Josep Munar - guitar
Enric Fuster - drums

"Eva Fernández has been a musician since I met her, at age 7. She has always shown outstanding ability and sensibility. Her alto sax sound is clean and powerful, and her work as a lead of the saxophone section is brilliant, but what really stands out is her voice, which has a characteristic and special timbre that she modulates depending on what she wants to communicate. Her performer and jazz musician condition also allows her to express all sorts of melodies in a different way.“ Joan Chamorro

Saxophonist, singer and composer Eva Fernández offers a sonic journey through some of the themes that have accompanied her in recent years, including songs from her upcoming album “¿Cómo llamar a esto?”, which will be released in the coming months. Joined by Josep Munar on guitar and Enric Fuster on drums, with whom she has collaborated for more than five years, Eva Fernández offers an intimate, sincere and nuanced concert, a characteristic feature of her music.

Catarina Duarte - voice
Nuno Caldeira - guitar

SENZA: They produce a surprisingly big sound for a duo: it's as Portuguese as it is global, as ethnic as it is urban. Catarina and Nuno draw inspiration from the most remote corners of the world for their music, infusing their Portuguese lyrics with an intriguing blend of traditional and contemporary rhythms.

With three albums out and a significant international career, SENZA are an emerging duo in current Portuguese music. They have performed on more than 200 stages around the world and released songs featuring prominent Portuguese musicians such as Carlão, Júlio Pereira and Rão Kyao.
The duo, who gets inspiration from places all over the world, carries a mestizo identity on their sound, adding new electronic elements, resulting in a musical experience that is both ethnic and contemporary. A SENZA concert is always a sharing and an innovative dialogue with the audience, with exotic brushstrokes and danceable rhythms.

Martin Eberle - trumpet
Štepán Flagar - tenor saxophone
Tobias Vedovelli - bass

“Would it be possible to speak of a new all-star trio of Austrian Jazz? The maturity and compactness of the compositions that are celebrated with such relish by Haezz convey the image of seasoned, veteran musicians, devoid of any demonstrative attitude and who know what they are doing. The warm and intimate chorals stand alongside artfully interwoven, contrapuntal webs of lyrical urgency. Then back to a groove-heavy breakneck pace, in which all three instruments bounce between rhythmic, harmonic and melodic roles. Polyphone ideas of Cool-Jazz meet complex rhythmic finesse and central European melodic allusions. The stupendous virtuosity gleams through again and again and serves as a means for this purely acoustic, hand-made chamber jazz laden with overtones. Tobias Vedovelli, Štěpán Flagar and Martin Eberle play music that pairs sensuosity with an aspiration for creativity, the type of music that goes straight to the heart and excites the mind. A wondrous pleasure to listen to. “ (ANDREAS FELBER, Ö1)

Francesco Bearzatti - sax, clarinet
Federico Casagrande - guitar, live loops

“And then winter came again” is the second opus in the decennial collaboration between Francesco Bearzatti and Federico Casagrande. After “Lost Songs” (a collection of compositions by Bearzatti that they performed around Europe for several years) it’s now time for Casagrande to lead the duo into a new musical territory following the path set by his writing.
While the first album was recorded live at a concert, this time they chose the studio as the ideal setting for tracking the new music.

“And the winter came again” is a collection of songs with a diffused crepuscular light. Bizarre characters and their tales, lost landscapes of the world and of the mind are evocated through the wide palette of sounds they have.
Once again the song form is the center of this work; their craft of storytelling is even more refined and all the songs come out as an abstract detailed painting.
Bearzatti plays both tenor and clarinet bringing the warm sound and emotional lyricism we all know him for. On top of his polyphonic guitar skills, Casagrande brings a wider dimension through live effects and loops.
“And then winter came again” is an ode to calm, quiet and depth through the waves of cycles that mark the time in life.

Claire Vailler - voice, guitar, keys
Mocke (Dominique Dépret) - guitar

“The latest from the duo of Claire Vailler and Mocke is a sumptuous winter palace that fuses elements of chanson, jazz, contemporary classical and ambient.“ (thequietus.com)

“It is somehow like the image of the three trees in Proust. While in a car, he perceives three distant trees and this vision is an upheaval for him. He tries to understand what they tried to tell him and digs into himself to understand. Although he misses something, it is very deep. It is a bit of this that we look for in our texts. There is never a theme, a brief, a subject to work upon.
I think that in my life there is more time spent reading than listening to music. But it is undoubtedly because I am a musician and this is my daily life.“
Claire Vailler, BENZINE
“Mocke is an essential guitarist of the french music scene. Formerly a founding member of the group Holden, he composes and writes today within the Midget! duo, with the musician Claire Vailler. We have seen him gradually free himself from any framework to settle in a territory that belongs only to him. At the crossroads of experimentation, oblique songs, world sound, contemporary music, improvisations, Mocke composes instrumental pieces built around his guitar, like one writes prose poems, with such grace that it is not surprising that his latest album “Parle Grand Canard” (Objet Disque, 2020), was unanimously acclaimed upon its release. Whether he is alone at the helm of his solo records (3 albums since 2014), composing musical creations for France Culture, film soundtracks or appearing on stage and on records with other musicians (Delphine Dora, Mohamed Lamouri, Arlt, Chevalrex…), Mocke has a harmonic signature recognizable among thousands. The trademark of one of the most singular musicians of the time.“ (Murailles Music)

Corina Sîrghi - voice
Meltiade Mihalache - violin
Nicu Dorel - accordion
Costel Nechita - double bass
Cristinel Turturică - cimbalom

Jazz is about feeling, freedom and improvisation. Muzica lăutărească could also be described as full of pathos and long of life. And lots of amazing improvisation.

A few years ago, Corina Sîrghi brought back to life taraf music, digging its origins, full of meaningful stories and - specially - authentic instruments. Her effortless talent and rapture towards this genre lead to invitations at prestigious international festivals as Womex or Enjoy Jazz (the biggest and most important jazz festival in Germany).

Corina’s seraphic voice, the cry of the violin, the tremble of the double bass and the sweet dance between the accordion and the cimbalom can only be the living proof that the Levantine, ancestral legacy should be valued as one of the most important cultural assets.
